The best way to lose weight is not to diet!

After years of yo-dieting and over a year since beginning my Lifestyle Challenge I am confident in saying that the best way to lose weight and keep it off is by not dieting!

Since July I have lost over half a stone and I have not been dieting at all and due to my very busy work schedule I have had no time for my daily exercise either. However, I still force myself to walk 15 minutes to the shops.

My appetite has reduced significantly and I no longer think about food all the time. In fact I often have to force myself to eat and when I do I get full up quite quickly. It is pretty amazing really, considering the fact that food and dieting have required so much effort in the past.

But now food does not control me anymore and I no longer get cravings that I cannot resist. It may take time to wean yourself off being a food addict but it is definitely possible. I am living proof.

It is possible that my new state of mind is a result of other factors. For example, I had been on a long-term medication (Norethisterone) that I no longer need to take. Also, the supplements I am taking primarily for my hair: flaxseed oil, omega 3, multi-vitamins, Biotin, MSM and pantothenic acid are very likely helping to improve my overall health and well-being.

In the last couple of weeks I have also added high strength vitamin C (to protect me from viruses over the winter), black cohosh and evening primrose oil. And I am still continuing my two-litre daily intake of filtered water.

I still weigh myself weekly and check my blood pressure on a home monitor so that I can visit my GP for a health check if it goes above normal consistently. This is because high blood pressure is a genetic trait and I will always have to take medication to keep it down.

But overall I am feeling great!
