New York Sisters Trip [6]

On the last day of our trip we headed for Central Park on one of the hottest days of the year. We were too late for the tour that started at 9.00am so elected to tour the park on our own.

Our first stop was Strawberry Fields, a memorial dedicated to John Lennon that Rosie wanted to visit. After taking photos, we then strolled to the Hernshead Boat Landing, a beautiful and tranquil lake with a view of the cityscape. We then continued our walk past the Great Lawn, Belvedere Castle and through the gorgeous Shakespeare Garden. We never appreciated just how vast Central Park is: there are so many spots and landmarks within the park, the structures and architecture both within the park and outside are wonderful sights to behold. Our legs started to tire after around 90 minutes walking so we took a cycle cart back to the entrance where we caught the subway back to Time Square. There we enjoyed yet more great food at O’ Donoghues Irish restaurant and I quenched my thirst with two pints of Stella Artois!
