New York Sisters Trip 2019 [2]

On the first day o our New York Sisters Trip, we had a full day that included Grand Central Station, Flatbush, Brooklyn, Prospect Park, Coney Island and back to Times Square.

My football-mad sister Rosie, who’s a Liverpool fan, wanted to head to Carragher’s sports bar and restaurant to have breakfast and watch a match…but Google maps sent us on a wild goose-chase so we went to Grand Central Station instead for lunch and then headed on the subway for Brooklyn.

At Franklyn Avenue when met an amazing character, Wendell, who lives and works in Flatbush and kindly escorted us to Flatbush, introducing us to his colleagues and the store where he works as a security guard. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and people in Fatbush were chilled and congenial.

Wendell even helped us located a beauty salon, where Rosie and I had excellent eyelash extensions done at the wonderful Soni Threading Salon at 603 Flatbush Avenue. Jennifer also had her eyebrows threaded and tinted and we were all very pleased with the results!

From there, at Wendell’s suggestion we headed to Prospect Park, where we took in some jazz and watched Wendell’s smooth dance moves, before heading for Coney Island- another excellent suggestion from Wendell.

At Coney Island we had a wonderful time, more food – hot dogs, fries and ice-cream and we walked to the beach, observing everyone having such a fab time. It was packed, you would never believe it was a Sunday and the weather was gorgeous.

We rode the subway back to Times Square and had a delicious and very reasonably-priced meal in a lovely Irish restaurant, O’ Lunney’s at 105 West 45th Street-just around the corner from our hotel. I had tasty fish and chips, a pint of cider and a Stella Artois! The food was great and the service excellent…I would definitely recommend them and we will probably dine there again during our stay!
